Arnab Goswami Arrest- Mumbai police on Wednesday reopened the investigation into the arrest of Republic TV’s Arnab Goswami on Wednesday in connection with a two-year-old suicide case. Several Union ministers were among those who condemned the arrest, recalling the state of emergency, as the Indira Gandhi government cracked down on the media.

Arnab Goswami claimed that he was killed and assaulted by the police before being pushed into his van.
Mumbai: The investigation into the arrest of Republic TV’s Arnab Goswami in a two-year-old suicide case on Wednesday has recently resumed, Mumbai police said. Several Union ministers were among those who condemned the arrest, recalling the state of emergency, as the Indira Gandhi government cracked down on the media.
Goswami alleged that he was manually killed and assaulted by police before being pushed into their van at his Mumbai home. He showed hand injuries.
He was quoted by news agency ANI as saying that Mumbai police had “physically assaulted his mother-in-law and brother-in-law, son and wife”. In videos aired on Republic TV, he appeared to have been caught by police trying to take him away. However, police charged him with assaulting a female officer in a separate case. He was later remanded in judicial custody for 14 days.
Republic Editor-in-Chief 2018 accused 53-year-old architect and interior designer Anve Naik and his mother of committing suicide.
The architect mentioned Mr Goswami in a suicide note and alleged that he had not paid his dues after designing the setup of the Republic TV channel.
Police closed the case two years ago.
Feroze and Nitesh Saradha, two others mentioned in the note, were also arrested.
Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has announced that he is reconsidering his suicide after architect’s daughter Adnya Nayak lodged a fresh complaint.
“Arnab kept saying that there should be arrests in the Sushant Singh Rajput suicide case without a suicide note. My husband left a suicide note naming Arnab and two others, but the arrests did not take place. How fair is this,” Anve Naik’s wife Akshata told reporters
